Daily Hacker News privacy policy
This policy covers Daily Hacker News, the app for iPhone and iPad made by Little Tools LLC.
The short version
Daily Hacker News does not collect, sell or share any information about you. There is no account, no server of our own, no advertising and no analytics.
Where stories come from
The app downloads public stories and comments directly from your device, from the Hacker News Search API run by Algolia (hn.algolia.com) and the official Hacker News API (hacker-news.firebaseio.com). Like any website you visit, those services receive your device's IP address and a standard request when the app fetches data. The app sends them nothing about you, and we never receive these requests.
What the app stores, and where
To open quickly and work offline, the app saves recent editions and the discussions you open on your device. It also remembers which stories and discussions you have opened and which comments you collapsed. All of this stays on your device and is never sent anywhere.
Articles
Articles open in Apple's in-app Safari browser. The websites you visit there have their own privacy policies, and Daily Hacker News cannot see what you do on them.
Deleting your data
Deleting Daily Hacker News from your device removes everything it stored.
Children
Daily Hacker News does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
